3:51 Եթէ շինուածոց իցեմք ցանկացեալք, ունիմք շինուածս յերկինս առանց մարմնաւոր ձեռագործի, որ ոչ երեւին ձեր արքունիքդ առ նոքաւք:	3:51 If we were to desire buildings, we have mansions in heaven made without human hands; to them your royal palace offers no comparison:
3:52 Նոյնպէս եւ հանդերձից եւ փառաց եւ անախտ կերակրոց. զոր եթէ ոք կամեսցի ասել ձեզ, չ հանդարտէ լսել ձեր տկարութիւնդ. վասն զի կուրութեան հնութեամբն չ տեսանէք եւ ոչ լսէք եւ ոչ իմանայք, յայն սակս զմեզ զուր եւ անիրաւ եւ առանց յանցանաց անողորմն դատիք:	3:52 Likewise, with garments and glory and untainted food: if anyone were to wish to speak to you about them, your weak-mindedness would not bear to listen. For because of your inveterate blindness you do not see, or hear, or understand. Therefore, you are mercilessly judging us, vainly and unjustly and without guilt on our part:
3:53 Այլ մեր Թագաւորն առատ է եւ բարերար, եւ բաց է դուռն արքայութեան նորա. եթէ կամեսցի ոք դիմել՝ դիմեսցէ համարձակ. ի դարձելոց յապաշխարութիւն չ նախանձի եւ ոչ ընդ ումեք երբէք:	3:53 But our King is liberal and beneficent, and the door of his kingdom is open. If anyone were to wish to enter, let him enter boldly. He never begrudges anyone who turns to repentance:
3:54 Բայց վասն դիւրութեանս՝ որ դու հրամայեցեր առնել մեզ, էր մեր իշխանութիւն անդրէն յաշխարհին մերում չ անկանել մեզ ի ձեռս թագաւորիդ. որպէս եւ այլքն՝ զի ապրեցան յայսպիսի փորձանաց. այլ որպէս կամաւք եւ յաւժարութեամբ եկաք, իբրեւ թէ գիտէաք զվիշտս վտանգիս, ոչ ինչ զանգիտեցաք յայսպիսի ճգանց, սոյնպէս եւ կամիմք՝ զի եւ այլ եւս ծանրացուսցես ի վերայ մեր, մինչեւ քո չարութիւն կամացդ յագեսցի ի մեզ:	3:54 But as for the comforts which you have ordered to be provided us—we had the power back in our own country not to fall into the hands of your king, like the others who escaped such troubles. But as we came willingly and readily, although we knew the perils of our danger and yet did not fear such hardships, likewise we also wish that you bring even heavier afflictions upon us until your malice against us has been sated:
3:55 Զի թէ Աստուածն մեր, որ է Արարիչ երկնի եւ երկրի եւ ամենայն երեւելեաց եւ աներեւութից, եւ առ սէր իւրոյ բարերարութեանն խոնարհեցաւ առ ազգս մարդկան, եւ զգեցաւ մարմին չարչարելի, եւ անց ընդ ամենայն հանդէս առաքինութեան, եւ կատարեաց զամենայն գործ տնտեսութեան ի կամս իւր, մատնեցաւ ի ձեռս խաչահանուացն, մահու մեռաւ եւ եդաւ ի գերեզմանի, եւ զաւրութեամբ Աստուածութեանն իւրոյ յարուցեալ երեւեցաւ աշակերտացն եւ այլոց բազմաց, եւ վերացաւ առ Հայր իւր յերկինս, եւ նստաւ ընդ աջմէ հայրենի աթոռոյն, եւ շնորհեաց մեզ զաւրութիւն երկնաւոր, զի ըստ նորա անմահութեանն՝ եւ մեք մերով մահկանացու մարմնովս կարիցեմք չարչարակից լինել անմահ մեծութեանն, եւ նա ոչ եւս իբրեւ զմահկանացու համարի զմեր մահն, այլ իբրեւ անմահից հատուցանէ մեզ զվարձս վաստակոց մերոց, արդ փոքր համարիմք մեք զչարչարանս զայս առ սէր փոխարինին, զոր էարկ առ ազգս մարդկան:	3:55 For if our God, who is Creator of heaven and earth and of all things visible and invisible, in his benevolent love humbled himself to the race of mankind and put on a passing body, accomplished the whole range of virtue, fulfilled every act of Providence of his own will, was betrayed into the hands of his crucifiers, died and was placed in a tomb, rose by his divine power and appeared to the disciples and to many others, ascended to his Father in heaven, sat at the right hand of the Father’s throne, granted us heavenly power so that conformably with his immortality we too in our mortal bodies may be able to suffer with him and share in his immortal grandeur—and if he no longer considers our death as mortal but requites to us as immortals the rewards of our labors—then we count as insignificant these torments for love of the recompense which he bestowed on the race of mankind:
3:56 Իբրեւ լուաւ զայս ամենայն բանս մոգպետն ի դահճապետէ անտի, խռովեցաւ, պղտորեցաւ ի միտս իւր, եւ հատաւ քուն յաչաց նորա զբազում գիշերս:	3:56 When the chief-magus heard all that the chief-executioner had to say, he was disturbed and disconcerted in his mind; sleep departed from his eyes for many nights:
3:57 Իսկ յաւուր միոջ յերեկուն պահուն յարուցեալ երթայր առ նոսա միայնիկ մնջիկ, եւ ոչ զոք առնոյր ընդ իւր ի սպասաւորացն:	3:57 But one day in the evening watch he arose and went to them, alone and noiselessly, without taking any of his servants with him:
3:58 Եւ իբրեւ եհաս ի դուրս տանն, հայէր ընդ ծակ մի ի ներքս եւ տեսանէր ըստ առաջին տեսլեանն. բայց նոքա ի քուն կային խաղաղիկ:	3:58 When he reached the door of the prison, he looked in through a crack and saw a vision similar to the previous one, except that they were in a peaceful sleep:
3:59 Հեզաբար կարդաց յանուանէ զեպիսկոպոսն, քանզի քաջ իսկ գիտէր պարսկերէն:	3:59 Softly he called the bishop by name, for the latter knew Persian very well:
3:60 Եկն ի դուրս եւ հարցանէր. «Ո՞վ ես դու:	3:60 He came to the door and asked: “Who are you:
3:61 Ես ինքն իսկ եմ», ասէ. «կամիմ ի ներքս մտանել եւ տեսանել զձեզ:	3:61 It is I,” he said, “I wish to enter and see you:
3:62 Եւ իբրեւ եմուտ ի մէջ սրբոցն, ոչ եւս երեւէր նմա այլ նշանն. եւ պատմեաց նոցա զերկիցս երեւումն սքանչելեացն:	3:62 After he had come in among the saints, the sign was no longer visible to him, and he told them of the two appearances of the marvel:
3:63 Ետ պատասխանի Ղեւոնդ երէցն եւ ասէ. «Աստուած, որ ասաց ի խաւարի լոյս ծագել, որ եւ ծագեաց եւ լուսաւորեաց իմաստութեամբ զաներեւոյթ արարածս, նոյն զաւրութիւն եւ այսաւր ծագեաց ի խաւարեալ միտս քո, եւ բացան աչք կուրացեալ ոգւոյդ եւ տեսեր զանշիջանելի լոյս շնորհացն Աստուծոյ. փութա, մի՛ հեղգար. գուցէ դարձեալ կուրացեալ ընդ խաւար գնայցես:	3:63 The priest Ḷevond replied and note: “God who said light should shine in the darkness—which indeed shone out and illuminated with wisdom the invisible creatures—has today made shine the same power in your darkened mind. The blind eyes of your soul were opened and you saw the inextinguishable light of God’s grace. Make haste, linger not, perchance you may again become blind and walk in darkness:
3:64 Եւ զայս իբրեւ ասաց, յոտն կացին ամենեքեան ասելով ի քառասներորդ երկրորդ սաղմոսէն. Առաքեա, Տէր, զլոյս քո եւ զճշմարտութիւն քո, զի նոքա առաջնորդեսցեն եւ ածցեն զմեզ ի լեառն սուրբ եւ ի յարկս քո:	3:64 When he had said this, they all stood up, reciting from the forty-second psalm: “‘Send, Lord, your light and your truth, that they may lead and bring us to your holy mountain and your abode. ’:
3:65 Արդարեւ ճշմարտիւ, Տէր, առաջնորդեցեր եւ ածեր զմոլորեալս զայս յանանց ուրախութիւնդ եւ յանմերժելի հանգիստդ:	3:65 Truly indeed, Lord, have you led and brought this wanderer to your unfailing joy and inalienable rest:
3:66 Ահա նմանեալ է աւրս այս սուրբ չարչարանացն քոց. որպէս ապրեցուցեր զմահապարտ աւազակն յերկրորդ մահուանէն, եւ նովաւ բացեր զաղխեալ դուռն Ադենայ, այսպէս գտեր եւ զայս կորուսեալս. որ էր պատճառք մահու բազմաց, արդ արարեր զսա պատճառք կենաց. մեզ եւ անձին իւրում:	3:66 Behold, this day is like that of your holy torments; just as you saved the condemned thief from the second death and thereby opened the locked gate of Eden, so too have you found this man who was lost. He who was the cause of death for many, you have now made the cause of life for us and himself:
3:67 Գոհանամք զքէն, Աստուած, գոհանամք եւ ձայնակիցք լինիմք սուրբ մարգարէին. Մի՛ մեզ, Տէր, մի՛ մեզ, այլ անուան քում տուր փառս վասն ողորմութեան եւ ճշմարտութեան քո. զի մի՛ երբէք ասասցեն ի հեթանոսս, թէ ո՞ւր է Աստուած նոցա. որպէս եւ այսաւր իսկ յայտնի եղեւ զաւրութիւն քո մեծ ի մէջ ապարասան խաւարազգեստ ազգիս:	3:67 We thank you, God, we thank you and join the holy prophet in saying: ’Not to us, Lord, not to us but to your name give glory for your mercy and truth, so that they may never say among the gentiles: Where is their God? ’—just as today your great power was revealed in this unbridled and darkness-enshrouded nation:
3:68 Իսկ որ ձրին եգիտ զաստուածատուր շնորհսն, սկսաւ եւ նա առանձինն ասել. Տէր լոյս իմ եւ կեանք իմ, ես յումմէ՞ երկեայց. Տէր ապաւէն կենաց իմոց, ես յումմէ՞ դողացայց «Քանզի գիտեմ ճշմարտիւ, եթէ բազում են այսուհետեւ թշնամիք իմ, եւ կամին մերձենալ եւ ուտել զմարմինս իմ. այլ դու, Տէր ամենայնի, եկիր վասն ամենեցուն կենաց, զի դարձցին եւ կեցցեն առաջի քոյոյ մարդասիրութեանդ:	3:68 Then he who had freely found God-given grace began to speak by himself: “‘The Lord is my light and my life; of whom shall I be afraid? The Lord is the refuge of my life; by whom shall I be shaken? ’ For I truly know that henceforth my enemies will be many, and they will wish to approach and consume my body. But you, Lord of all, came for the life of all, that they might turn and live before your benevolence:
3:69 Մի՛ որոշեր զիս ի սուրբ գառանցս, յորս խառնեցայ, զի մի՛ ըստ քո փարախդ արտաքս ելեալ՝ չար գազանն դարձեալ բեկանիցէ զիս:	3:69 Do not separate me from the holy lambs whom I have joined, lest as I leave your sheepfold the evil beast fall on me again:
3:70 Մի՛ հայիր, Տէր, ի բազմամեայ ամբարշտութիւնս իմ, զի մի՛ մոլորեալ ի ճշմարիտ կենացդ՝ զբազումս անդրէն ի կորուստ աշակերտիցեմ, այլ որոց եղէ պատճառք մահու, նոցին եղէց եւ պատճառք կենաց:	3:70 Look not, Lord, on my impiety of many years, lest straying from the true life, I make disciples of many to their destruction; but for those for whom I was the cause of death may I also become the cause of life:
3:71 Սատանայ՝ որ ինեւ խրոխտացեալ պարծէր ի մէջ մեծի կորստականացս, ինեւ կորացեալ ամաչեսցէ ի մէջ իւրոց աշակերտացն:	3:71 May Satan, who through me was scornfully arrogant among many who are lost, through me be humbled and shamed among his own disciples:
3:72 Եւ զայս իբրեւ ասացին, նմին իսկ ետուն կատարել զաղաւթսն, եւ դադարեցին նովաւ հանդերձ մինչեւ ի պահն երրորդ, եւ այնպէս խաղաղեալ կացին ի քուն ամենեքեան մինչեւ ի ժամ առաւաւտուն:	3:72 When they had thus spoken, they had him finish his prayers and they remained with him until the third watch. Then they all slept peacefully until the morning-hour:
3:73 Իսկ նորա յոտն կացեալ, եւ ի քուն ոչ մտեալ, այլ զձեռսն իւր ի վեր ամբարձեալ՝ կայր յաղաւթս:	3:73 But he remained on his feet; he did not sleep but raised his hands up in prayer:
3:74 Եւ մինչդեռ ընդ երդն պշուցեալ հայէր յերկինս, յանկարծակի տունն լի եղեւ լուսով. եւ երեւեցան նմա սանդուղք լուսեղէնք, որ կանգնեալ էր յերկրէ ի յերկինս. եւ գունդք գունդք զաւրաց ելանէին ի վեր. եւ էր ամենեցուն տեսիլն նոր եւ չքնաղ եւ ահաւոր եւ սքանչելի իբրեւ զտեսիլ հրեշտակաց:	3:74 While he was looking attentively to heaven through the skylight, suddenly the building was filled with light. A luminous staircase appeared to him, which led from earth to heaven. Numerous groups of soldiers were climbing up; and the appearance of them all was extraordinary and handsome and awesome and wonderful, like the appearance of angels:
3:75 Ունէր եւ զթիւ համարոյ ի միտս իւր զիւրաքանչիւր գնդիցն, զոր տեսանէր. էր որ զհազարի, էր որ զերեսուն եւ զերից, էր որ զերկերիւրոց եւ զերեքտասանից:	3:75 He retained in his mind the number in each of the groups he saw: one was a thousand, another thirty-six, another two hundred and thirteen:
