4:76 Եւ միայնակեացք, որք ելեալ եւ կորուսեալ էին, հրամայէր գալ եւ ունել զիւրաքանչիւր տեղիսն:

 4:76 And the monks, who had disappeared, he ordered to return and occupy each his own place:

4:77 Եւ զամենայն կարգս աստուածպաշտութեանն, որպէս զիարդ եւ ունէին յառաջ ժամանակաւ առ նախնեաւքն, նոյնպէս եւ այժմ, ասէ, կալցին:

 4:77 Let everyone,” he said, “perform all the rites of piety now just as they did in former times in the days of their ancestors:

4:78 Եւ եթէ ոք ի հեռի աշխարհ ուրեք գնացեալ իցեն, ունիմ իշխանութիւն յարքունուստ, ասէ մարզպանն, եթէ յազատաց իցեն, եթէ ի շինականաց, եթէ յեկեղեցւոյ, զինչ կեանս եւ թողեալ իցեն, եկեսցեն եւ կալցեն զիւրաքանչիւր զարարս:

 4:78 And if any people have gone to a distant land,” said the governor, “I have authority from the court to allow them to return and recover their possessions, be they nobles, peasants, or clergy—whatever way of life they may have abandoned:

4:79 Երդմունս կնքէր եւ առաքէր ի կողմանս կողմանս:

 4:79 He sealed sworn oaths and sent the message to all parts:

4:80 Որ եւ բազումք իսկ եկին եւ ժողովեցան, եւ կալան զիւրաքանչիւր կալուածս:

 4:80 Then many did return and repossess their lands:

4:81 Նա եւ որ մեծն է քան զամենայն, որ ի բռնութենէ ոք ակամայ կալեալ էր զմոգութիւնն, հրովարտակս առաքէր յարքունուստ՝ անդրէն ունել զքրիստոնէութիւնն:

 4:81 But what was most important of all, he sent out edicts from the court that if anyone had been forced against his will to accept magism, he could again embrace Christianity:

4:82 Եւ յանդիման խաւսէր թագաւորն, որք էին ի տանն արքունի, եթէ «Որք ոչ սիրով ունին զդենի մազդեզն, այնպիսեաց եւ աստուածքն են ցասուցեալ, եւ ես ոչ ինչ եմ շնորհակալ. եւ այսաւր զնոյն հրաման տամ ամենեցուն՝ ի կամս մարդոյն թողեալ ըստ իւրաքանչիւր մտաց, որպէս զինչ եւ կամի պաշտել՝ պաշտեսցէ. ամենեքեան իմ ծառայք են:

 4:82 And the king proclaimed to those at the royal court: “As for those who did not happily accept the Mazdaean religion, the gods are angered at such people, nor am I pleased. But today I issue the same edict to all, leaving each man to follow the decision of his own mind; let him worship as he wishes to worship. They are all my subjects:

4:83 Զայս ասէր, եւ գրով հրաման տայր ամենայն աշխարհին:

 4:83 So, he spoke, and he put his order in writing for the whole country:

4:84 Իբրեւ զայս լուան եւ տեսին բազումք, որ էին ցանեալ եւ ցրուեալք ի հեռաւոր տեղիս, գային եւ ունէին զիւրաքանչիւր արարս:

 4:84 When they heard and saw this, many who were scattered in distant places returned and reoccupied their possessions:

4:85 Իսկ նախարարքն, որ էին յամուրս աշխարհին եւ կամ ի հեռաւոր աւտարութեան, իբրեւ տեսին զշինութիւն երկրին, մանաւանդ զեկեղեցւոյն հաստատութիւն, քաջալերեցան համարձակեցան եւ նոքա յանդիման լինել արքային:

 4:85 And the nobles who were in the fortresses of the country or far away abroad, when they saw the restoration of the country and especially the reestablishment of the church, were encouraged and emboldened to present themselves to the king:

4:86 Վասն որոյ եւ պատգամ յղեցին առ մարզպան աշխարհին, զի ի Դուռն ցուցցէ զբանս նախարարացն:

 4:86 Therefore, they sent a message to the governor of the country, asking him to present the nobles’ petition at court:

4:87 Իսկ նա վաղվաղակի յարքունուստ գիր ողոքանաց եւ ուխտ հաստատութեան տայր տանել առ նոսա հրամանաւ արքունի:

 4:87 So, he immediately had sent to them from the court by royal command an appeasing letter and firm guarantee:

4:88 Բայց թէպէտ եւ գիտէին նոքա զդառնութիւն տէրութեանն՝ թէ սուտ են յամենայնի, կամեցան չարչարակից լինել սրբոցն:

 4:88 But although they knew the cruelty of the authorities and how they were false in everything, they still wished to share the saints’ torments:

4:89 Զի եթէ մահ եւս առաջի կայցէ, ոչ ինչ զանգիտեսցեն երկիւղիւ:

 4:89 For even if they had faced death they would not have hesitated from fear:

4:90 Եւ զայս լուեալ թագաւորին՝ ոչ կապանաւք, այլ արձակ ոտիւք եւ արձակ ձեռաւք հրամայեաց առ ինքն կոչել:

 4:90 When the king heard this, he ordered them to be summoned to his presence, not in bonds but with feet and hands untied:

4:91 Ածին վաղվաղակի զկին եւ զորդիս, եւ զինչս իւրաքանչիւր ետուն ի ձեռս մարզպանին, եւ ինքեանք փութանակի գնացին ի ձմերոցն արքունի:

 4:91 They immediately brought their wives and children and delivered to the governor their possessions; then they went off in haste to the king’s winter palace:

4:92 Եւ մինչդեռ անդէն ի ձմերոցին էր թագաւորն, ատեան հարցափորձի ի մէջ նոցա հրամայէր լինել:

 4:92 And while the king was still in his winter palace, he ordered a tribunal to be held to question them:

4:93 Եւ նստաւ հազարապետն՝ զի լուիցէ կողմանցն երկոցունց:

 4:93 The hazarapet presided in order to hear both sides:

4:94 Եւ իբրեւ յերկարեցաւ ամբաստանութիւնն զաւուրս բազումս, պարտաւորեցաւ կողմ ուրացելոցն:

 4:94 The proceedings lasted many days, and the side of the apostates lost:

4:95 Քանզի ցուցանէին զթուղթսն՝ զոր տուեալ էր Վասակայ եւ ամենեցուն որ ընդ նմա էին, զի միաբանք իցեն ընդ նմա յուխտ ապստամբութեանն. թուղթ մի ի Վրաց աշխարհն, եւ թուղթ մի յԱղուանից աշխարհն. սոյնպէս եւ թուղթ մի յԱղձնիս, եւ հրովարտակ մի առ թագաւորն Յունաց, եւ թուղթ մի առ մեծ սպարապետն Անտիոքայ:

 4:95 For they presented letters given out by Vasak and all his companions urging that others join with him in the pact to rebel: one letter to Georgia, one letter to Albania, likewise a letter to Aḷdznik, and a message to the Greek emperor, and a letter to the great general of Antioch:

4:96 Եւ ի բոլորեսին յայսոսիկ թուղթսն վաւերական մատանի Վասակայ եդեալ էր:

 4:96 All these letters had been authenticated with Vasak’s ring:

4:97 Սոյնպէս խառն էր նա եւ ի մահ մոգուցն ի Զարեհաւանի:

 4:97 Similarly, he had been implicated in the death of the magi in Zarehavan:

4:98 Եւ զբազում բերդս՝ զոր հանին ի Պարսկաց, յայտ առնէին զնորա թուղթսն եւ զհրամանսն. քանզի նա էր մարզպան ի ժամանակին:

 4:98 They also revealed letters and orders of his concerning the fortresses seized from the Persians, since he had been governor at the time:

4:99 Որպէս եւ հրեշտակութեամբ յղեալ իսկ էր նորա առ Յոյնս նախարար մի, որում անունն էր Ատոմ՝ յազգէն Գնունեաց. սա մատուցեալ յանդիմանէր զնա առաջի մեծի ատենին հրովարտակաւն իսկ, զոր տուեալ էր նորա իւրով մատանեաւ:

 4:99 Furthermore, a noble called Atom from the Gnuni family, whom he had sent on an embassy to the Greeks, came forward and accused him before the great tribunal with that very message which he had given him sealed with his own ring:

4:100 Նա եւ ի մէջ իսկ բերէր զամբաստանութիւն նորա Մուշկան Նիսալաւուրտ, եւ յայտ առնէր պատերազմակից ընկերաւքն իւրովք, որ եւ յետ վճարելոյ պատերազմին բազում արիւն ետ հեղուլ Վասակ. թէ որպէս սուտ երդմամբք խաբէր եւ իջուցանէր յամրոցաց անտի. էր՝ զոր կոտորէր, եւ էր՝ զոր գերի վարէր զծառայս եւ զաղախնայս արքունի:

 4:100 Mushkan Nisalavurt also brought forward an accusation against him, indicating with his companions in arms that even after the end of the war Vasak had caused much blood to be shed: how by false oaths he had tricked Armenians into coming down from their fortresses; some he killed, others he took captive as royal slaves and handmaidens:
