50:0 Նոյնպէս տայր հրաման եւ վասն այլ քահանայիցն սրբոց, զորս թողին կապեալս ի Նիւշապուհ ի դղեկին:	50:0 Yazkert also gave an order regarding the other blessed priests who had been left bound in the fortress at Niwshapuh:
50:1 Տայր հրաման Վեհդենշապհոյ ամբարապետի առնուլ ընդ իւր երկուս եւս այլ աւգնականս յաւագանւոյն, զՋնիկան մայպետն արքունի, եւ զՄովան անդերձապետ` ի ձեռանէ մովպետան մովպետի, երթալ փութով յառաջ քան զինքն, եւ հանել զսուրբ քահանայսն ի բանտէն, ուր էին կապեալք նոքա եւ նախարարքն Հայոց, եւ տանել զնոսա հեռի ի քաղաքէն յանկոխ եւ յանապատ տեղի, եւ անդ չարալլուկ տանջանաւք, որպէս եւ կամեսցի, բարձցէ զնոսա ի կենացս:	50:1 He ordered Vehdenshapuh, the ambarapet, to take two other nobles as assistants, Jnikan, the court maypet, and Movan, the anderjapet, who was an assistant to the Movpetan movpet, to quickly go in advance of himself, to remove the blessed priests from the prison where they were being held bound with the Armenian naxarars. (Yazkert) ordered that they should be taken to an untrodden and deserted place far from the city and cruelly tortured there in whatever manner (Vehdenshapuh) chose until they died:
50:2 Բայց յոյժ պատուիրանաւ զգուշացուցանէր թագաւորն Վեհդենշապհոյ` ոչ տալ ումեք գիտել, ո՛չ զառնուլ եւ զգնալ զնոսա ի քաղաքէն, եւ ոչ զճանապարհն ընդ որ տանիցին, եւ ոչ զտեղի մահուանն ուր սպանանիցեն զնոսա:	50:2 But the king ordered Vehdenshapuh to be extremely careful that no one should find out that they had been taken from the city, or by what road, or the place where they were to be slain:
50:3 Քանզի լուեալ է, ասէ, մեր ստուգութեամբ, թէ աւելի, ասէ, վասն այսր կարի խնդան ի մահ` որք ի մոլար աղանդն են քրիստոնէից. զի այդպէս ասեն, թէ ոսկերք այնոցիկ, որք յաղագս Աստուծոյն իւրեանց մեռանին, եւ որ ոք, ասէ, յիւրում տանն ունիցի ինչ անտի, թէ եւ փոքր խրխոր ինչ ունի` եւ վատ ինչ եւ խորամանկ ի նա եւ ի նորա տունս եւ ի սիրելիս ոչ մերձենայ:	50:3 Since,” he said, “we have accurately learned that those who belong to the erroneous sect of Christianity will go to their deaths with great joy for (such a fate). For, they say that if someone should have in his home even a tiny fragment of the bones of someone who died for their God, nothing bad or malicious can befall him, his house, or his loved ones:
50:4 Այլ եւ զայս եւս, ասէ, ասեն, թէ ի բանս ատենի աջողութիւնս տան եւ իմաստս եւ քաջութիւնս գտանել եւ պահպանութիւն:	50:4 They also say that (such relics) give aid in speaking at trials, wisdom, bravery, and protection:
50:5 Եւ մինչեւ ի մահ ջանան անձամբ եւ կարասւով գոնէ ատամն մի կամ եղունկն մի գտանել յայնպիսեացն, եւ ի տունս իւրեանց տանել:	50:5 To the point of death, they strive in person and with their wealth to obtain but a tooth or fingernail from such (martyred Christians) and to take it to their homes:
50:6 Այլ եւ զայն եւս ի հաւատարիմ մարդկանէ, որք ի մոլար աղանդին նոցա են եղեալ, ապա զմեր լուսաւոր եւ զարդար աւրէնս ունին, տեղեկացեալ եմք, թէ կանայք նոցա, ուստերք եւ դստերք, եւ զզարդս ոսկւոյ եւ արծաթոյ եւ մարգարտոյ տարեալ ուրուք նոցա, թէ կարի փոքր ինչ յոսկերաց այնր մեռելոց տայր նոցա` զայն մեծարգոյ եւ պատուական համարին:	50:6 Furthermore, we have been informed by trustworthy men who had belonged to their devious sect but now hold our radiant and just faith, that their women, sons and daughters will take their ornaments of gold, silver and pearls and give them in exchange for even a very small portion of the bones of people who have so died, regarding (the bones) as very respect-worthy and venerable:
50:7 Եւ զի՞նչ եւս այլ աւելի ասեմ. եւ զհարց եւ զմարց զարդս, զոր յանուն նոցա արարեալ է մեծաւ աշխատութեամբ, ճիտակս եւ կամ զտակս ինչ մարգարտոյ կարի մեծագնոյ` կանայք քրիստոնէիցդ չ համարին ինչ հանել յանձանց եւ տալ եւ դնել փխրանս ինչ յոսկերաց այնպիսեացն:	50:7 What else shall I say? Ornaments of their fathers and mothers, which were made for them with great labor—(ornaments) having a neck or base of extremely costly pearls Christian women regard it as nothing to remove them from their persons and give them to purchase but a small piece of the bones of such (martyrs:
50:8 Այլ դուք ուշիմ լերուք, եւ յայնմ վայրի եղիցի սպանումն նոցա, ուր յայնպիսեաց կարծեաց եւ պատուոյ` սպանեալքն եւ որք սպասեն ոսկերացն` վրիպեալ լիցին:	50:8 So you be careful that the site of their killing is somewhere that those who hold such beliefs and are awaiting the bones to revere them, will be unable to locate:
50:9 Եւ զայս ամենայն բանս լուեալ ի թագաւորէն ամբարապետին Վեհդենշապհոյ յԱպար աշխարհին, եւ մտեալ ի դղեկ շահաստանի Նիւշապհոյ` խաւսէր բանս սուտս, եւ տայր աւետիս նենգութեամբ, թէ «Արքայից արքայ հրաման ետ ինձ` զհայ երիցունսդ որ աստ ի կապանս են` արձակել յաշխարհն իւրեանց, եւ վասն այլ ազատանւոյն որ ի Հայոց են` պայման արար, թէ ես յորժամ գամ` արձակեմ ի կապանաց:	50:9 When the ambarapet, Vehdenshapuh, heard all these words from the king in the land of Apar, he entered that fortress in the Niwshapuh shahastan. He spoke (the following) false words (to the captives), duplicitously giving them “good news”: “The king of kings has commanded me to dispatch the Armenian priests held here in bonds to their own land. With regard to the other nobles from Armenia, he stipulated that he would release them from their shackles when he arrives:
50:10 Եւ լուեալ զայս բազմութեանն որ էին ի շահաստանին` կարծէին գոլ արդար զխաւսեցեալսն ի Վեհդենշապհոյ:	50:10 When the multitude (of captives) in the shahastan heard this, they thought that Vehdenshapuh was speaking the truth:
50:11 Բայց սուրբ քահանայքն իբրեւ լուան` իսկոյն գիտացին ազդեցութեամբ սուրբ Հոգւոյն զհասեալ բարի ժամ յուսոյ նահատակութեան իւրեանց. սկսան խաւսել ընդ նախարարսն Հայոց, ընդ որս կապեալն էին, եւ ասեն. «Թէպէտ եւ կամէր արդեաւք Վեհդենշապուհ թաքուցանել զճշմարտութեան բանն` ոչ կարաց. քանզի երկոքեան մեր այդ իրք այդպէս կատարելոց են, որպէս եւ լուանն իսկ ի նմանէ ամենեքեան:	50:11 But when the blessed priests heard it, through the influence of the holy Spirit they immediately realized that the good hour of the hope of their martyrdom had arrived. They began speaking with the Armenian naxarars with whom they were bound, saying: “Although Vehdenshapuh wanted to conceal the truth, he was unable to do so. For both of us shall be killed as indeed all of you heard from him:
50:12 զի եւ դուք իբրեւ ողորմութեամբն Քրիստոսի արձակելոց էք ի կապանացդ, եւ մեք զաւրութեամբ սուրբ Հոգւոյն կատարեալ զտաղտուկ զաւուրս կենցաղոյս պանդխտանոցիս` գնալոց եմք ի բնիկ աշխարհն մեր եւ յընտանիս, ուր դասք առաքելոցն են եւ աւթեւանք սրբոցն, ի բանակ տանուտեառնն եւ արարչին ամենեցուն Քրիստոսի, որ ասացն. Ուր եսն եմ` անդ եւ պաշտաւնեայն իմ եղիցի:	50:12 You, with the mercy of Christ, will be freed from bondage; we, with the power of the holy Spirit, having passed the wearisome days of our lives as exiles, will go to our natural land and family, where the ranks of the Apostles are, and the dwellings of the saints, to the army of the tanuter and creator of all, Christ, Who note: ’Wherever I am, my servant will be. ’:
