10:1 Եւ ետ հրաման արկանել կապիճս երկաթիս ի ծունկս նորա, եւ վարել ուռունս ստուարս, եւ բառնալ ի կախաղան՝ մինչեւ յաւշեսցին ծունկք նորա անդէն:	10:1 And he commanded iron leggings to be put on his knees, and that he be struck with heavy hammers and be suspended on the gibbet until his knees were broken:
10:2 Եւ կաց կախեալ այնպէս զերիս աւուրս:	10:2 And he stayed hanging thus for three days:
10:3 Եւ յաւուրն չորրորդի հրաման ետ թագաւորն, եւ իջուցին զնա ի կախաղանէն, եւ ածին կացուցին զնա առաջին նորա:	10:3 And on the fourth day the king gave a command, and they brought him down from the gibbet and led him before him:
10:4 Խաւսել սկսաւ թագաւորն եւ ասէ. «Տե՛ս դու, Գրիգորիոս, զի ոչ փրկեաց զքեզ սնոտի յոյսն քո, յոր յուսայիր դու. չ եհան զքեզ ի ձեռաց իմոց:	10:4 The king began to speak and note: “See, Gregory, that your futile hope in which you had confidence did not save you or deliver you from my hands:
10:5 Ետ պատասխանի Գրիգորիոս եւ ասէ. «Տե՛ս դու, զի սնոտի են յոյսքն քո, եւ ոչ կարացին հաւանեցուցանել եւ ոչ երկեցուցանել զիս. զի զոր դուն պաշտես՝ սնոտի է, եւ ամենայն գործ մոլորութեան քոյ:	10:5 Gregory replied and note: “See, your hopes are vain and they could not persuade me or make me doubt. For that which you serve is vain, as is the whole activity of your error:
10:6 Այլ տե՛ս դու, զի ո՛չ ի տանջանաց քոց երկեայ ինչ ես, եւ ոչ զսաստ ահի քոյ համարեցայ. այլ զաւրութեամբ Տեառն իմոյ մարտեալ ընդ թշնամւոյն՝ որ ի ծածուկն քեւ պատերազմի ընդ ճշմարտութեան, եւ մատնեցի զմարմինս իմ ի կիզումն տանջանաց:	10:6 But see, I was not in the least afraid of your torments and I considered as nothing your fearsome menaces. But through the power of my Lord I fought with the enemy, who in hidden fashion wars through you against the truth, and I submitted my body to the burning torments:
10:7 զի եթէ վաղ եթէ անագան՝ սակայն քակտի հնացեալ մարմինն. զի եկեսցէ ճարտարապետն, գտեալ զորդիս մարդկան՝ միւսանգամ զնոյն հնացեալն անդրէն նորոգեսցէ:	10:7 For be it sooner or later, nonetheless the body grows old and is dissolved [cf. II Cor. 5.1]. The architect [cf. Heb. 11.10] will come and find the sons of men, and will renew this same that has grown old:
10:8 Զի զորոց զոգիսն գտանէ ի պարկեշտութեան, ի զգաստութեան, ի սրբութեան, ի քաղցրութեան, ի հեզութեան, յաստուածպաշտութեան կեցեալ՝ նորոգէ, զարդարէ, կեցուցանէ զնոյն ոգիս նովին մարմնով:	10:8 For those whose souls he finds living in decency, in sobriety, in holiness, in sweetness, in gentleness, and in piety [cf. Tit. 2.12] - he will renew, adorn and vivify these same souls with the same body:
10:9 Իսկ զորս գտանէ յանաւրէնութեան եւ յամբարշտութեան, յաստուածատեցութեան, ի կռապաշտութեան կեցեալ՝ թէպէտ եւ բուսանել բուսանին մարմինք նոցա առ ժամանակ մի՝ այլ զնոսին նովին ոգւով եւ նովին մարմնով արկանէ ի գեհեն, յանշէջ հուրն, յաւիտենից տանջանս, մանաւանդ զայնոսիկ, որ իբրեւ զքեզդ են ի կռապաշտութեան:	10:9 But those whom he finds living in lawlessness and impiety, hating God and worshipping idols, although their bodies may flourish for a while, yet with that same soul and body he will cast them into hell, into the inextinguishable fire [cf. Mk. 9.43], into eternal torments - and especially those who are like you in idolatry:
10:10 Իսկ իբրեւ լուաւ զայն թագաւորն՝ բարկացաւ ընդ բանսն եւ ասէ. «Ինձ ոչ է փոյթ զայնմանէ, թէ նորոգեսցէ՞ զքեզ Աստուածն քո թէ ոչ. ինձ ոչ է պէտ զայնմանէ:	10:10 When the king heard this, he was angry at the speech and note: “I have no interest in that; whether your God will renew you or not is not my concern:
10:11 Այլ զի ասացեր, եթէ զքեզ յանշէջ հուրն արկանէ՝ ես զքեզ աստէն իսկ այրեցից շիջանուտ հրով. տեսցուք, քո Աստուածն զի՞ արասցէ:	10:11 But because you said ’he will cast you into inextinguishable fire, ’ I now will burn you with fire that can be extinguished. Let us see what your God will do:
10:12 Եւ ետ հրաման երկաթի պուտամբք հալել կապար, եւ մինչդեռ ջերմ էր՝ իբրեւ զջուր հոսել արկանել զմարմնով նորա:	10:12 He ordered lead to be melted in iron cauldrons, and while it was still hot to be poured like water over his body:
10:13 Եւ այրեցին զմարմինս նորա առ հասարակ, եւ ոչ մեռաւ. այլ կայր մեծաւ ուժով, եւ զինչ հարցանէին՝ վաղվաղակի տայր պատասխանի:	10:13 And his flesh was completely burned. Yet he did not die, but withstood it with great fortitude. And to whatever they asked he immediately replied:
10:14 Եւ զարմացեալ թագաւորն ընդ ժուժկալութիւն համբերութեանն կարի անհնարին եւ ընդ տոկալ նորա՝ եւ ասէ, թէ «Զիա՞րդ կայ ի քեզ շունչդ յայդչափ ժամանակաց, եւ ի չարաչար տանջանացդ, որով զքեզն կտտեցի:	10:14 And the king was amazed at his incredible fortitude and endurance and at his persistence, and note: “How does there remain breath in you after so long and after these cruel tortures with which I have afflicted you:
10:15 Ետ պատասխանի Գրիգորիոս եւ ասէ. «Ո՞չ վաղ իսկ ասացի քեզ, եթէ զի առցես դու զփորձ համբերութեան ծառայիս Աստուծոյ. զի տայ զաւրութիւն յամաւթ առնել զայնոսիկ, որ առանց նորա իցեն եւ մարտնչիցին ընդդէմ նորա իբրեւ զքեզդ:	10:15 Gregory replied and note: “Did I not tell you earlier to test the endurance of this servant of God? For he gives strength in order to confound those who are without him and who fight against him like you:
10:16 Զի այսպէս ասէ. Ոչ թողից զձեզ, եւ ոչ ընդ վայր հարից:	10:16 For thus he says: ’I shall neither abandon you nor cast you down’:
10:17 Արդ՝ այս է պահպանութիւն նորա առ արարածս իւր եւ առ սիրելիս իւր, զի պահեսցէ զնոսա ի հաւատս իւրեանց որ ի նա, մինչեւ հատուսցէ նոցա ի գալստեան իւրում:	10:17 So, this is his protection towards his creatures and his loved ones, to keep them in their faith in him until he will reward them at his coming:
