8:1 Արդ՝ առեալ թագաւորին փայտատ եւ բահ՝ հատանէր զդիրս հանգստոցաց սրբոցն իւրաքանչիւր ըստ չափու արկեղացն:	8:1 The king took axe and spade and dug out places of rest for the saints according to the size of the caskets:
8:2 Սոյնպէս եւ ինքեանք երկոքին, Աշխէն տիկին եւ քոյր թագաւորին Խոսրովիդուխտ, ըստ բրել բրողին ի հանդերձս իւրեանց ընկալեալ զհողն՝ արտաքս պեղէին:	8:2 Meanwhile, the two women Queen Ashxe’n and the king’s sister Xosroviduxt, put the earth which had been excavated into their garments and removed it:
8:3 Եւ այսպէս կարգի կարգի յառաջակողմն պատրաստեցին զդիրս սրբոյն Հռիփսիմեայ. եւ զկնի նորա զերեսուն եւ զերկուցն ի տեղւոջն յայնմիկ, ուր հեղան արիւնք վկայականք երանութեան նոցա, ի տեղւոջ հանգստեան պատրաստելոյ սուրբ եւ փառաւոր սեղանոյն Քրիստոսի:	8:3 Thus they prepared in this order places of repose: first for saint Rhipsime, then for her thirty-two companions, in the place where their blessed martyrs’ blood had been shed, by the place of repose readied for the holy and glorious altar of Christ:
8:4 Սոյնպէս եւ ի վկայարանին՝ որ ի հարաւակոյս քաղաքին էր՝ պատրաստեաց եւ զայն տեղին երանելւոյն Գայիանեայ եւ երկուց ընկերացն:	8:4 Similarly, at the martyrium to the south of the city, King Trdat prepared a place there for the blessed Gayane and her two companions:
8:5 Ինքնին թագաւորն Տրդատ քերբն Խոսրովիդխտով հանդերձ եւ Աշխէն տիկնաւ զդիրս սրբոցն իւրաքանչիւր բնակութեան յաւրինէին իւրեանց ձեռաւքն:	8:5 King Trdat himself with his sister Xosroviduxt and Queen Ashxe’n, prepared places of repose for each of the saints with their own hands:
8:6 Եւ եկն թագաւորն, խնդրեաց հրաժեշտ ի սրբոյն Գրիգորէ եաւթնաւրեայ ճանապարհ կալեալ ի վեր ի բարձր լեառն ի Մասիս:	8:6 Then the king came and requested leave from saint Gregory for a seven-day journey so that he might ascend lofty Mount Masis (Ararat:
8:7 Եւ անտի ի գլխոյ լեռնէն առեալ վէմս արաստոյս, անտաշս, անկոփս, յաղթս, ծանունս, երկայնս, ստուարս եւ մեծամեծս, որ զմի մի ոչ ումեք լինէր հնար, թէ եւ դիպելոյ բազմութեան ի մարդկանէ՝ զայն շարժել. արդ՝ առեալ սկայազաւրն հայկաբար զութ արձանսն՝ ի վերայ իւրոց թիկանցն զայն դնէր եւ ըստանձնեալ բերէր ի վկայարանս տաճարացն:	8:7 From the summit of the mountain he took enormous boulders, solid, unhewn, unworked, wide, tall, gigantic rocks. These were rocks which no individual or even a multitude of men could move. Yet King Trdat lifted up eight of them, put them on his shoulders and carried them back to the chapels, since he had a giant’s strength, like Hayk:
8:8 Մէն չորս արձանս սեամս կանգնէր՝ իբրեւ փոխարէն անմիտ մարտին, զոր ընդ սրբոյն պատերազմեալ յիւրում սենեկին. ուր ամենապահ շնորհացն յաղթեալ՝ զայնչափ զարմանալիսն գործեաց:	8:8 Four of these boulders he set up as a threshold, as though in exchange for the thoughtless battle he had fought with the saint in his own room, where, through the all-saving grace of God she defeated him and wrought such astounding deeds:
8:9 Եւ սա պսակ յաղթութեան՝ զիւրոյ ձեռացն զաւրութեան զվաստակն ամենեցուն ցուցանէր:	8:9 Now King Trdat showed everyone the labor of his own hands, as a crown of victory:
8:10 Արարեալ շինեալ կազմեալ զսուրբ վկայարանսն երեսին՝ հանդերձեցին զարդարեցին եւ աւրինաւք յարդարեցին. եւ ապա առեալ զիւրաքանչիւր յիւրաքանչիւր տեղի վկայութեանն մատուցանէին:	8:10 When the builders had completed three blessed chapels, they adorned and decorated them. Then they brought and emplaced each of the martyrs in her own sanctuary:
8:11 Զսուրբն Գայիանէ ի կողմն հարաւոյ, իւրոյ մարտիրոսութեանն երկու ընկերաւքն դնէր ի վկայարանի տաճարին:	8:11 Saint Gayane he put in the martyrium to the south of the city with her two companions in martyrdom:
8:12 Սոյնպէս եւ զերանելին Հռիփսիմէ երեսուն եւ երկու ընկերաւքն ի կողմն արեւելից ի շինածի տաճարին դնէին:	8:12 Similarly, the blessed Rhipsime with her thirty-two companions they placed in the chapel built to the east:
8:13 Եւ զմիաւորն, որ ի հնձանին սպանաւ՝ սորա տաճարն ի կողմանէ քաղաքին ի հիւսիսոյ կուսէ:	8:13 To the north of the city they built the temple of the sole martyr who had been slain at the wine press:
8:14 Եւ զամենայն սուրբսն ի միասին գումարեալ, զխաչական վկայսն Քրիստոսի՝ յիւրաքանչիւր հանգիստս մարտիրոսական բնակութեան շինուածոցն փոխեցին:	8:14 Having gathered together the remains of all the saints, they transferred all of Christ’s cross-enveloped witnesses to their own dwellings, which had been built as resting-places for the martyrs:
8:15 Ըստ երեւելոյ հրամանին տեսլեանն յառաջագոյն Գրիգորի՝ այսպէս եւ կատարեցաւ:	8:15 And this was done according to the command in the vision which earlier had appeared to Gregory:
8:16 Եւ ի ներքսագոյն խորանացն, ի վերայ հանգստարանացն կենդանադիր գերեզմանացն ի տեղիս սեղանոցն, յերեսին վկայարանսն մէն մի կանգնեաց զսուրբ նշան տէրունական խաչին. «Զի միայն, ասէ, առաջի այդր ամենակեցոյց նշանիդ երկիր պագանիցէք Տեառն Աստուծոյ արարչին ձերոյ:	8:16 And in the center of the pavilions, over the resting-places of these life-containing graves, among the altars, Gregory set up the holy sign of the Lord’s cross in each of the three chapels. He note: “Only in front of this all-saving sign should you worship the Lord God, your creator:
8:17 Ահա սիւնք հաստատուն կանգնեցան ձերում խարխուլ շինուածոյն:	8:17 Behold, firm pillars have been set up in your insubstantial building:
8:18 Այս այն սիւնք են, ասէ, որ ունին զբեռն ծանրութեան ձերոյ շինուածոյն փրկութեան. ահա երեք սիւնք. եւ չորրորդ սիւնն կենդանութեան՝ որ զձեզ առ Աստուած վերացուսցէ:	8:18 These are the pillars which bear the heavy weight of the edifice of your salvation. Behold the three pillars. The fourth is the pillar of life, which will lift you up to God:
8:19 Եկա՛յք զնկատեալ տեղին տէրունական տանն եւ մեզ հրամայեալն ի մէջ առեալ ի պատիւ փակեսցուք:	8:19 Now come and let us honorably enclose the place designated and commanded us for the Lord’s house:
8:20 Եւ թագաւորաւն եւ ամենայն ժողովրդովքն հանդերձ երթեալ հասանէր անդէն ի տեղին ցուցեալ հրեղէն սեանն ոսկիակալ խարսխին, եւ անդէն բարձր քաղաքորմով փակեալ զտեղին ի պատիւ, եւ դրամբք եւ դռնափակաւք ամրացուցեալ, եւ կանգնեալ եւ անդ զնշան փրկական խաչին. զի առ հասարակ հասեալ ամենայն ոք յայն տեղի՝ ամենազաւր արարչին Աստուծոյ երկրպագեալ ծունր կրկնեսցեն:	8:20 Then Gregory with the king and all the people went to the place which had been revealed by the fiery column with its golden base. They honorably enclosed the place with a high wall and with doors and locks secured it. They erected the sign of the redeeming cross there so that everyone might go to that spot, kneel, and worship God, the almighty creator:
8:21 Եւ այսպէս լուսաւորեալ զսիրտս եւ զոգիս ժողովրդոցն քարոզութեամբ, աղիւն Աստուածութեանն յաղեալ համեմեալ. թողեալ զպաշտաւն ունայնութեան սնոտեաց ձեռագործ կռոցն արարելոց, եւ ի պաշտաւն դարձեալ մարդասիրին Աստուծոյ:	8:21 And in this way did Gregory illuminate the hearts and souls of the people with preaching, seasoning them with the salt of divinity. They abandoned the worship of vain idols, which had been made by hand, and turned instead to the worship of benevolent God:
8:22 Եւ յայնմ հետէ եւ անդր կանխէին անձնակամ կամաւք ի պահս եւ յաղաւթս, եւ յերկիւղ եւ ի սէր. եւ յունկնդրութիւն Աստուծոյ վարդապետութեանն փութային:	8:22 After this, they willingly turned to fasting and prayers, to fear of God and love for and attention to God’s teachings:
