7:0 Եւ խորհելով զայս ամենայն Արշակ թագաւորն ի միտս իւր` լքեալ մերժեալ թողոյր զբարի եւ զբնիկ ժառանգութիւն նախնեաց իւրոց, զգաւառն Այրարատու, զհոյակապն եւ զհռչակաւորն եւ զականաւորն. զամենաբոյսն, զամենաբուղխն, զամենալին, զամենագիւտն ի շահս եւ ի դարմանս մարդկային պիտոյիցս կենաց եւ վայելչութեան եւ սթափութեան:

 7:0 Thinking over all of this inwardly, king Arshak forsook and abandoned the good, native inheritance of his ancestors, the district of Ayrarat. (Ayrarat) was charming, renowned and illustrious, containing all plants and flowers, full of the advantageous, having victuals needed to sustain human life, full of beauty and refreshment. (Ayrarat contained) extensive plains full of game, beautiful sites and fertile fields surrounded by mountains:

7:1 զդաշտս մեծատարածս եւ որսալիցս. զլերինս շուրջանակի գեղեցկանիստս եւ պարարտարաւտս, զհոծեալս էրէովքն կճղակաբաժնիւք եւ որոճայնովքն, եւ այլովք եւս բազմաւք ընդ նոսին:

 7:1 The fields were densely covered with game, those with snouts, those chewing their cud, and many others with them:

7:2 Յորոց ի վերուստ ի կատարացն ջրոց հոսմունք, անկարաւտ ոռոգման արբուցանելով զդաշտս` մատակարարէ անբաւ բազմութեամբ յոստանն, կանամբք, արամբք եւ ընտանեաւք, զանպակասութիւն հացի եւ գինւոյ, զանուշահոտ զմեղրահամ քաղցրութիւն բանջարացն եւ զզանազանումն իւղաբուղխ սերմանցն:

 7:2 From the peaks of the mountains water courses down and nourishes the plains which need no irrigation, bringing an immeasurable abundance of bread and wine, sweet-smelling, delicately flavored vegetables, and a variety of oil—producing plants to women, men and families at the ostan:

7:3 Իսկ ի լանջակողմանսն կամ ի սարահարթ տեղիս սփռեալ, յոր դիպեցուցեալ զհայեցած նորոգատեսիլ մարդոց` հանդերձս ինչ եւ ոչ ծաղկաբոյս գոյնս կարծեցուցանեն սփռեալքս պարարտաբոյսք եւ պարարտ արաւտք պարարտահամք:

 7:3 Now the fertile earth-smelling fields which adorned the mountain flanks and level ground struck the refreshed gaze of the viewer more like clothing than the color of vegetation:

7:4 որոց թանձրախիտ աճմունք խոտոցն զանթիւ արաւտականս ընդանի իշանց եւ զանհամբոյր բոյլս վայրենի էրէոցն յագեցուցեալ՝ թանձրաթաղանթս, առոգագաւակս, սոնքացեալս գիրութեամբ զբնաւ մարմինն ցուցանեն:

 7:4 The lush growth of grasses over the countless pasturages fed the tame asses and the forbidding herds of wild deer (making them) moist and plump and covered with fat, their bodies over:

7:5 Իսկ սաստկաբուրումն անուշահոտ ծաղկանցն, որ զարանցն քաջաց որսասէր նետողացն եւ զհաւտարած բացաւթէգացն, ընձեռելով առողջութիւն` զաւրացուցանեն զզգայութիւն խելացն եւ նորոգեն:

 7:5 The plains contained fragrant plants which are sought after by brave (warriors) and by those who shepherd flocks (for use as an ointment) against wounds, lending health (such plants) heighten the senses and renew them:

7:6 Անդ գտանին եւ ազգի ազգի արմատք բուսոց ի պէտս աւգտակարութեան դեղոց, ըստ ճարտարագէտ ճանաչողութեան ստուգահմուտ բժշկացն յաւրինուածոցն, երագահաս ախտահալած սպեղանիք, եւ կամ արբմամբ՝ յերկարելոցն ի ցաւս պատահացուցանեն առողջութիւն:

 7:6 Many different types of plant roots are found there, useful to the learned doctors who recognize them, for making medicines. Such fast-acting illness-destroying ointments (applied) or (potions) which are drunk bring health to those long-suffering in illnesses:

7:7 Իսկ դաշտացն ամենալրութիւն զկամս աշխատասիրացն կորզելով յինքեանց իբրեւ բանիւ, եւ առլցեալ որ զինչ եւ է բարով` եւս առաւել փութանակի զդարձն առ ինքեանս հրաւիրեն միանգամայն:

 7:7 The abundance of the plains, which wins to itself the will of those who enjoy labor, and gives as if for a word, what is good, invites one to turn again to it:

7:8 Որք ոչ միայն երեւելութեամբն ցուցանեն, վերաբերեալ զշահաւորութիւն աւգտից մարդկան, այլ առաւել յորդորախոյզ աշխատողացն` զառ ընդ երկրաւ ծածկեալ աւգուտս ուսուցանեն, գանձել անձանց շահս եւ զվայելս այսր աշխարհիս ի մեծութիւն թագաւորաց եւ ի հաստատութիւն հարկահանաց, զոսկի եւ զպղինձ եւ զերկաթ եւ զպատուական քարինս:

 7:8 Everything of profit to humankind is not just what is displayed. No, those who would search even farther will find much of value buried in the ground. (Such miners) can accumulate profits and enjoy the good things of this world in the (style of the) greatness of kings, confident (of satisfying) the tax-collectors. (Miners) found gold, copper, iron, and precious stones:

7:9 զոր ընկալեալ արուեստող ձեռաց` զարդարեն զթագաւորս մեծատեսիլ զարդեաւքն յաւրինուածովքն, զոր ի խոյրսն եւ ի թագսն եւ ի հանդերձսն յոսկէհուռս պաճուճեալս ընդելուզանեն:

 7:9 When (such stones) came into the craftsmen’s hands, they became the magnificent ornaments which adorn monarchs set into the diadem and crown, and women with gold thread into (royal) clothing:

7:10 Այլ եւ ածմամբ ջրոց` համածին անուշութիւնս մատուցանեն կերողացն զխորտկացն որոշութիւնս:

 7:10 With the mixing with waters, a twin sweetness offers itself to eaters of different kinds of fine dishes:

7:11 Նաեւ զարմատս եղէգնասեր բուսոցն ոչ ընդունայն սնուցանէ յինքեան ամենաբաղձ դաշտն Այրարատոյ, այլ եւ ի նմանէ ծնեալ որդունս, ի զարդ կարմրատեսիլ գունոց, ընծայէ աւգտասիրացն շահս եւ շքեղութիւնս:

 7:11 The roots of reed-like plants do not merely dine uselessly from the (nourishment) of the coveted Ayrarat plain, but worms which are nourished by the plants offer profits and luxury (since) decorative red colors are made from the worms:

7:12 Եւս եւ գետոցն գնացք բազմակերպ ձկամբք մեծամեծաւք եւ փոքումբք, զանազանեալ համովք եւ այլ եւ այլ տեսովք՝ ուրախացուցեալ լցուցանէ զշնորհս ընչից եւ յագուրդ որովայնից ժրացելոցն եւ անվեհեր ջանացողացն:

 7:12 The rivers are full of diverse large and small fish with different appearances and flavors. (The fish) cause delight, supplying profit, and filling the stomachs of those (ascetics) who tirelessly are striving:

7:13 Սնուցանէ յինքեան երկիրն ջրովք արուեստիւք եւ զառաւելութիւն հաւուցն յուրախութիւն եւ ի սթափումն որսատենչ ազատացն. զկրկջաձայն քաղցրաձայն առապարասէր վիմասոյզ սորամուտ երամս կաքաւացն եւ սալամբացն, եւ կամ զեղէգնաբնակ թփամուտ մացառաղաւղ պարարտամարմին զանուշահամ ազգ աքարացն վայրենեաց. այլ եւ զջրասուզակ մամռախնդիր խաւզակեր մեծանձունք եւ յաղթամարմինք հաւքն, փորն եւ թանձրն եւ սագն, եւ կամ այլ բազում եւ անհամար ցամաքայնոցն եւ ջրայնոցն ջոկք թռչնոցն:

 7:13 Fed by the beautiful waters of the country, the land also brings forth an abundance of fowl—to the delight and recreation of the prey-hungry azats. The throaty warble of flocks of partridge and heath-cocks which love concealing themselves in rock crevices. The meaty, delicious species of wild cocks which dwell in the reeds and brush. The large-limbed full-bodied birds which dive beneath the water searching for moss, and eating snakes and many other countless types, many flocks of land and sea birds:

7:14 Իսկ թակարդացն շրջափակութեամբք, երագազիւքն եւ գահողովքն, ելեալ ի յորս գունդք նախարարացն որդւովքն ազատացն. ուր ոմանք զհետ ցռուցն եւ այծեմանցն արշաւելով` զխիզախական զաղեղնաձայնն եւեթ բարբառիցին. եւ այլք զհետ բուլից եղջերուացն եւ եղանց ձիարձակ եղեալ` զգործ կորովաձիգ արանցն ցուցանեն. եւ կէսք սուսերաւք իբրեւ զմենամարտիկս` զսաստկանդամ երամս վարազացն գլորեցուցեալ սպանեն:

 7:14 Once (an area had been) surrounded by traps and hunters’ nets, brigades of naxarars with the sons of the azats would come forth to hunt. There, some would chase after onagers and wild goats filling the air with the sound of the bold whizzings of their arrows. Some would race on their horses after herds of deer and hinds displaying the exploits of powerful men. Others with swords drawn as though for single-combat would go after packs of huge wild boars and, causing them to tumble, would kill them:

7:15 Եւ շատք ի մանր մանկանց նախարարաց որդւոցն դաստիարակաւք եւ ծառայիւք զայլ եւ այլ սեռս ի թռչնոցն որսացեալ բազայիւք` դարձեալ բերիցեն ի յաճումն ընթրեացն ուրախութեան. եւ այսպէս առլցեալք իւրաքանչիւր որսով` գնան ուրախացեալք:

 7:15 Many of the naxarars’ small sons, with their tutors and servants, hunted diverse types of birds, using falcons, and thus added to the delight of the meal. Thus, did each person, heavy with his game, depart rejoicing:

7:16 Որոց դէտ ակն կալեալ ըստ հանապազաւրեայ սովորութեան` ջրայոյզ ջրածուփ ձկնորսացն մանկունք, ընթացեալք ի յառաջս նախարարագունդ որերոյն` ձկունս ի յորսոյ եւ բազմազան վայրենի հաւուց ձագս եւ կամ ձուս ի կղզեաց գետոյն բերեալ մատուցանեն ընծայս իշխանացն:

 7:16 There one could see the children of fishermen who fished the waters, according to their daily custom, coming before the people of the naxararagund bearing fish they had caught, as well as the chicks of diverse wild birds, and eggs from river islands. These things (the children) presented to the princes as offerings:

7:17 Յորոց ընկալեալ մասն ինչ նախարարացն ըստ կամի` պարգեւեն եւ նոքա ի յիւրեանց բերոցն ըստ առաւելապէս բաւականի ընծայաւորացն. եւ հասեալք լի ամենայն բարութեամբ յիւրաքանչիւր յապարանս` շնորհեն եւ անպարապիցն մնացելոցն ի տան` զամբիծսն, առաւելապէս եւ առ աւտարսն:

 7:17 The naxarars, as they pleased, selected a part of what was offered, then bestowed the remainder on the bearers, more than enough for them. When each man reached his mansion, loaded with all sorts of good things, he bestowed the cleaned game on those who had stayed home not participating, and especially on foreigners:

7:18 Եւ տեսանել է յամենեցուն ընթրիս, որպէս եւ շեղջակոյտս ինչ ի վերայ միմեանց, զէրէոցն բազմութիւն եւ զնոցուն գլխոց կարգմանց զառաջադրութիւն. յորոց ուրախացեալ բերկրին ձկնակերացն եւ մսակերացն անձինք. առաւել քան զխորտկաց անուշութեամբ` հոգեւոր ճաշակաւք, սաղմոսիւք եւ մարգարէական երգաւք աւրհնելով զպարգեւատուն Քրիստոս եւ զտուիչ եւ զլցուցիչ ամենայն բարութեանց:

 7:18 There one could see everyone dining, surrounded by piles of deer heaped upon each other, and their heads, purposely arranged. Though both eaters of fish and eaters of meat were delighted by the fineness of the delicacies, (they also took delight in) spiritual matters, using psalms and songs of the prophets to bless Christ, the bestower, giver, implementor of all good things:
