94:0 Եւ զայս ամենայն խաւսեցեալ Մամիկոնենին Վահանայ` սիրով լսէր զամենայն Նիխոր, եւ ախորժելով յանձն առնոյր:

 94:0 When Vahan Mamikonean had said all this, Nixor heard it all and enthusiastically consented:

94:1 Խնդրէր Նիխոր ի Վահանայ զբնիկ Հայոց զայրուձին. «Կազմեա՛, ասէ, փութով եւ արձակեա՛ ի դուռն. քանզի Զարեհ որդի Պերոզի, ընդդիմացեալ Արեաց արարուածի` գունդ դեռ կազմէր ի կորուստ անձին իւրոյ եւ հաւանելոցն ընդ իւր. եւ դու փութա՛ արձակել զՀայ այրեւձի, որ նախ քան զքո երթալն ի դուռն` եւ սպաս մի քո մեծ ծանուցանի արարուածքդ առաջի թագաւորին եւ ամենայն Արեաց:

 94:1 Nixor requested from Vahan the native Armenian cavalry, saying: “Quickly organize and dispatch it to court, for Peroz’ son, Zareh, resisting what the Aryans have done, has yet organized a brigade, to the ruination of himself and those who agree with him. Now quickly send the Armenian cavalry so that before you go to court you will have shown a great deed of service before the king and all the Aryans:

94:2 Վասն զի եւ ինձ հրաման ետ թագաւորն` վաղվաղակի մտանել ի դուռն. վասն զի աստուածք զայս իրս յաջող եւ բարերարութեամբ վճարեցին, զի եւս առաւել վաղագոյն երթամ անդր, ի դէպ է եւ պատշաճ:

 94:2 For the king has also ordered me to quickly go to court. For the gods will resolve this matter successfully and benevolently. It is appropriate and fitting that I should go there even more quickly:

94:3 Եւ ուրախացեալ Նիխորոյ եւ Մամիկոնեանն Վահանայ առ միմեանս ոչ բազում ինչ աւուրս` կազմէր ստիպով գործոյն պիտոյից:

 94:3 Nixor and Vahan Mamikonean rejoiced with each other for a few days, while he quickly arranged what was necessary:

94:4 Հրաժարեալք ի միմեանց` չուէին խաղաղութեամբ, Նիխոր առ թագաւորն ի դուռն, եւ զաւրավարն Հայոց Մամիկոնեանն Վահան ի Դուին:

 94:4 Bidding each other farewell, they went in peace, Nixor to court and the king, and Armenia’s general, Vahan Mamikonean, to Duin:

94:5 Եւ հասեալք յեզր գետոյն սաստկապէս ըստ ժամանակի իւրոյ պղտորութեանն, եւ զկամուրջն Արտաշատու գտին աւերեալ. եւ էր ինչ որ ի տեղեացն բնակչացն, եւ էր ինչ որ ի սաստկութենէն ջուրցն դիմեցմանց. եւ տարակուսեալ զաւրքն` խնդրէին տեղիս անցի, եւ ոչ գտանէին. եւ փորձելով ոմանց զբազում տեղիս` ընկղմեալք ի ջուրսն, եւ հազիւ գտեալ անդրէն ելս ապրէին:

 94:5 When (Vahan) reached the bank of the river which was turgidly swollen because of the season, they found the bridge of Artashat ruined. This had happened partly from the recourse of the inhabitants of the place, and partly from the fury of the waters. The troops were in doubt and sought for a place to cross, but they did not find one. Some who tried (crossing at) many places were submerged in the water and were barely able to find a way out and save themselves:

94:6 Իսկ քաջ զաւրավարն Հայոց Վահան Մամիկոնեան մերձեալ ի տեղի մի յեզր գետոյն, եւ տեառնագրեալ զինքն նշանաւ խաչին սրբոյ կենսատուի` իջանէր ի գետն, եւ որպէս ընդ յոյժ տեղի ծանծաղ` անցանէր խաղաղութեամբ ընդ ջուրսն, որ եւ տեղին ամենայն գնդին լինէր ճանապարհ անցից անհոգութեամբ:

 94:6 But Armenia’s brave general, Vahan Mamikonean, approached a place on the bank of the river, made the sign of the blessed life-giving Cross over himself, descended into the river, and peacefully crossed through the water, as though going through very shallow water:

94:7 Եւ լինէր այս նշան մեծ յայտնի, որ եւ առ ոյժ կացաձի արանց լինէր անցանել դիւրաւ ըստ կամի եւ ամենայն այրեւձիոյն. ի ճշմարիտ հիմնացեալ հաւատոյն քաջ զաւրավարին Հայոց Վահանայ` լինէր նշան որպէս Իսրայէլեան ժողովրդոցն` յանցանելն իւրեանց ընդ Յորդանան:

 94:7 This was the fording place for the entire brigade which crossed over without a care. This was a great and clear sign both for the horsemen and the entire cavalry which were able to cross easily, as they wanted. For Armenia’s brave general, Vahan Mamikonean, rooted in the true faith, it was a sign resembling the passage of the Israelite people through the Jordan:

94:8 Եւ ապա մտեալ յոստանն ի Դուին, եւ զշնորհակալութեան զպատարագն մատուցեալ Աստուծոյ արժանաւորապէս, եւ նախ զաղքատացն ողորմածութեամբ ըստ սովորութեան կատարեալ զտուրս` ուրախանային եւ ինքեանք ըստ Աստուծոյ հաճոյիցն խնդալից սրտիւ:

 94:8 Upon entering the ostan Duin, they worthily offered a mass of thanksgiving to God. First, they gave provisions to the poor with compassion, in accordance with custom; then they themselves rejoiced according to God’s pleasure, with delighted hearts:

94:9 Եւ կազմեալ Մամիկոնենին Վահանայ զայրեւձին Հայոց` արձակէր ի դուռն, կարգեալ զգունդն ի ձեռն Վրենայ Վանանդացւոյ. ընդ որս կազմեալ արձակէր եւ զիւր եղբաւրորդի մի, զորդին նահատակին Վասակայ զԳրիգոր:

 94:9 Vahan Mamikonean organized the Armenian cavalry, entrusting it to Vren Vanandac’i, and sent it to court. Among those sent was one of (Vahan’s) own nephews (brother’s son), Grigor, son of the hero Vasak:

94:10 Որոց հասեալ ի դուռն ժամանք` երթային պատրաստութեան գործոյ պատերազմին, եւ հարեալք ի դիմի միմեանց գունդքն երկոքեան, եւ մատնեալ ի պարտութիւն գունդն Զարեհի` փախստական լինէին, եւ բազում վիրաւորք անկեալ յերկիր կործանէին:

 94:10 When they arrived at court, they went off, ready to make war. When the two brigades clashed, Zareh’s brigade was defeated and fled, and many of the wounded died:

94:11 Անդ քաջացեալ հայրանման սեպուհն Մամիկոնէից Գրիգոր, ցուցեալ մեծ քաջութիւն` յայտնի լինէր զաւրավարին եւ զաւրացն ամենեցուն, եւ հռչակեալ նորա լաւութեան անուն` հասանէր մինչ ի թագաւորն Վաղարշ:

 94:11 There the sepuh of the Mamikoneans, Grigor, became valliant like his father, and displayed great bravery, which was clear to the general and to all the troops. He received a good reputation and (the news of it) reached the ears of king Vagharsh:

94:12 Լաւացեալ եւ սեպուհն Վանանդացի Վրէն, գործ երեւեցուցեալ քաջանայր:

 94:12 The Vanandac’i sepuh, Vren, also did well, displaying outstanding work:

94:13 Իսկ Զարեհն փախուցեալ ի լեառնակողմն տեղիս ամրանայր. զոր ձերբակալ արարին եւ ածին ի հրապարակն արքունի, եւ անդ նման անասնոյ փողոտէին յանխնայ:

 94:13 Then Zareh fled to the mountainous areas where he secured himself. But they arrested him and brought him to the royal assembly where they mercilessly slaughtered him, like an animal:
