30:1 Իսկ մեք որպէս ընկալաք զհրամանս քոյոյ թագաւորութեանդ, քաջդ արանց Տրդատ, գրել զայս ամենայն՝ որպէս աւրէն է ժամանակագիր մատենից՝ ըստ այնմ ձեւոյ դրոշմեցաք, ըստ աւրինակի յունական ճարտարութեանն արկեալ ի շատ զամենայն:	30:1 Now as we have received the command of your majesty, bravest of men Trdat, to write down ail this as is suitable for a writer of chronicles, in this way we composed our work, setting everything in order according to the form of Greek literary skill:
30:2 Բայց նայեցաք իբրեւ ի ցուցող հայելի յաստուածադիր բարձրութիւն տուչութեան հրամանացն, որ առ երանելին Մովսէս եկեալ վասն ամենայն իրացն եղելոց եւ աստուածեղէն պատգամացն աւանդելոց՝ մատենագրել ի պահեստ յաւիտեանցն որ գալոցն են:	30:2 But we looked, as in a mirror [cf. I Cor. 13.12], at the divinely imposed and most elevated commandments given to the blessed Moses, in order to write of everything that occurred and of the divine sayings handed down, and to preserve them for the ages to come:
30:3 Նոյնպիսիք եւ այլոց մարգարէիցն հրամայեալ. Ա՛ռ, ասէ, քարտէզ նոր մեծ եւ գրեա՛ ի նմա գրչաւ դպրի ճարտարի. եւ այլուր՝ թէ Գրեա՛ զտեսիլդ ի տախտակի եւ ի գիր հաստատեա՛, զի որ ընթեռնուն՝ համարձակ ընթեռնուցու:	30:3 Such commandments were also given to other prophets: “Take a new and large sheet and write on it with the pen of an experienced scribe” [Is. 8.1] and elsewhere: “Write this vision on a tablet and establish it in writing, that he who reads may read freely:
30:4 Իսկ Դաւիթ յայտնագոյն եւս վասն ամենայն ազգաց զվիճակ աստուածատուր աւրինացն նշանակէ ասելովն, թէ Գրեսցի այս յազգ այլ, եւ թէ՝ Տէր պատմեսցէ գրովք ժողովրդոց:	30:4 But David very clearly indicates that the lot of the divinely-given laws applies to all races: “Let this be written for another race” [Ps. 101.19] and: “The Lord will narrate in writing to the peoples:
30:5 Զոր եկեալ կատարեաց ամենափրկիչն Քրիստոս շնորհատուր հրամանաւն, թէ Ելէ՛ք ընդ ամենայն ազգս, եւ թէ՝ Քարոզեսցի Աւետարանս ի ներքոյ երկնից. ուստի եւ երանելւոյս այսորիկ համարձակութիւն առեալ յուսալից փութով երեւելի եւ արդիւնակատար ըստ Աւետարանին զիւր մշակութիւնն ցուցանէր:	30:5 Christ, the savior of all, came and completed this with his gracious command: “Go to all races” [Matt. 28.19] and: “Let this gospel be preached under heaven” [Matt. 24.14; 26.13; Mk. 14.9]. So, this blessed one freely, with hopeful concern and profitably, demonstrated his efforts according to the gospel:
30:6 Եւ արդ՝ քանզի ըստ աւրինակի գրելոցս առ ի մէնջ՝ ի կատարումն դարձուցաք, ոչ եթէ ի հին համբաւուց տեղեկացեալ եւ մատենագրեալ զայս կարգեցաք, այլ որոց մեզէն իսկ ականատեսք եղեալ կերպարանացն եւ առընթերակաց հոգեւորական գործոցն եւ լսողք շնորհապատում վարդապետութեանն, եւ նոցին արբանեակք ըստ աւետարանական հրամանացն:	30:6 So, to bring to completion our narrative in the proper fashion, we have not set all this in writing by deriving it from old tales but from the spiritual deeds that we ourselves saw with our own eyes and were present at, and from the graceful teaching that we heard and of which we were servants [cf. Lk. 1.2] according to the precepts of the gospel:
30:7 Ոչ սուտապատում ճարտարախաւս եղեալ առ ի մերոց բանից, այլ զյաճախագոյնսն թողեալ եւ ի նշանաւոր գիտակաց քաղելով՝ զհամառաւտսն կարգեցաք. որք ոչ մեզ միայն, ո՛վ թագաւոր, այլ յորժամ քո առաջի զմատեանդ ընթեռնուցուն՝ յայտնի է:	30:7 We did not make skillful yet false stories from our own words, but leaving aside the details and gathering from famous and knowledgeable men, we have set down the main points in brief. Which not merely to us, O king, but whenever this book is read before you, will be apparent:
30:8 Քանզի չ էաք իսկ հանդուրժող զամենայն արարեալս սրբոցն գտակաւ զիւրաքանչիւրսն նշանակել, այլ ի դիւրագոյն եւ ի հեշտագոյն յառաքելականն անդր զանձինս պատսպարեցաք, որոյ անցեալ զբազմախուռն արգասեաւք սրբոցն առ ի մանրակրկիտ առնելոյ՝ զկարեւորագոյնսն եւ զաւգտակարագոյնսն պատմեաց:	30:8 For we were not able to indicate precisely every detail of all that was done by the saints, but we have taken refuge in the easy and delightful and apostolic practice of Luke, who passing over the many and various deeds of the saints omitted the details and narrated only the most important and most profitable points:
30:9 Ուստի եւ մեր առեալ հանգոյն ասացաք. ոչ ի պատիւ ընտրելոց Աստուծոյ, որք ամենապարծ եւ կենդանատուր խաչիւն ծանուցեալք յարգեցան, այլ յաւրինակ քաջալերիչ հոգեւոր ծննդոց իւրեանց, եւ որք նոքաւք աշակերտելոց իցեն յազգս ազգաց», ըստ բանի հոգեւորական երգչին, որ ասէ:	30:9 Hence in similar fashion we have made our narrative, not for the honor of God’s elect who through his glorious and vivifying cross have become famous and honored, but for an inspiring example to their spiritual offspring and those who in every race will be instructed by them, according to the word of the spiritual singer who says:
30:10 Զի զոր ինչ միանգամ պատուիրեաց հարցն մերոց՝ ցուցանել զայս որդւոց իւրեանց, զի ծանիցէ ազգ այլ. որդիք որ ծնանին՝ յարիցեն եւ պատմեսցեն որդւոց իւրեանց, զի դիցեն առ Աստուած զյոյս իւրեանց, եւ մի՛ մոռասցին զգործս Աստուծոյ, եւ զպատուիրանս նորա խնդրելով խնդրեսցեն, զի մի՛ եղիցին իբրեւ զհարս իւրեանց:	30:10 Whatever he commanded our fathers to indicate to their sons that another race might know. The sons who are born will rise up and tell their own sons, that they may place their hope in God and not forget God’s deeds, and may seek his commandments, lest they become like their fathers:
30:11 Զի նոքա առ արարչութիւն անդր այսպիսի բարբառ արձակեալ ասասցեն. Տէր Աստուած մեր դու ես. եւ նա ասասցէ ցնոսա. Ժողովուրդ իմ էք դուք:	30:11 So that they, speaking such words to the Creator, may say: “You are our Lord God” [Jer. 3.22]. And he will say to them: “You are my people:
