7:151 Իսկ ուրացեալն Վասակ հայէր ի միաբանութիւն սուրբ կապելոցն, որք մեծաւ խնդութեամբ ընդունէին զչարչարանսն, եւ զուարթագոյն եւ պայծառք երեւէին որպէս յառաջագոյն յարքունիսն. հայէր եւ կարաւտէր, եւ ոչ ոք խառնեաց զնա ի նոսա, այլ ուրոյն նովին կապանաւք պահէին:

 7:151 The apostate Vasak looked on the unity of the saintly prisoners, who accepted their torments with great joy and appeared just as cheerful and serene as they had been previously at court. He looked and yearned, but no one allowed him to join them, as they kept him apart in his own bonds:

7:152 Եւ աւր ըստ աւրէ բերէին իբրեւ զգէշ ընկենուին ի մեծ հրապարակին, ձաղէին եւ այպանէին, եւ տեսիլ ամենայն կարաւանին զնա առնէին:

 7:152 Day after day he was brought and thrown like carrion into the great square; he was mocked and ridiculed and made the laughingstock of the whole army:

7:153 Կողոպտեցին հանին եւ ոչ ինչ թողին զոր ընդ իւրն ունէր. այնպէս ձաղեցին աղքատութեամբ, մինչ հաց մուրանային եւ բերէին նմա իւր ծառայքն:

 7:153 They robbed him, taking away everything he possessed; and they so derided him in his poverty that his servants had to beg for bread to bring him:

7:154 Եւ այնպէս սաստիկ արկին զպարտերս հարկաց աշխարհին ի վերայ տան նորա, որ մինչեւ զհարց եւ զհաւուց եւ զիւր արարս եւ զզարդս կանանց եւս եդ ի վերայ եւ ետ եւ տուժեցաւ, եւ ոչ կարաց հատուցանել զպարտսն արքունի:

 7:154 So heavy were the land dues imposed on his house that he had to resort to the possessions of his parents and grandparents as well as his own, and even to the women’s jewelry to pay the fine—and still he was unable to pay off the debts to the court:

7:155 Եւ յայն տեղի հասուցին, մինչեւ հարցանել նմա՝ «Եթէ կայցէ՞ ինչ գանձ ի գերեզմանս նախնեացն մերոց:

 7:155 They even went so far as to ask him:“Is there any treasure in the tombs of our ancestors:

7:156 Եւ եթէ գտեալ էր նորա, հանէր եւ տայր ընդ իւր եւ ընդ ընտանեացն տուգանս. որպէս զի բազում մարդիկ իսկ չոգան ի տուժի:

 7:156 If he found any, he was to dig it out and give it as forfeit for himself and his family, as many people had been included in the fine:

7:157 Եւ իբրեւ այսպէս յամենայն կողմանց հարեալ վատթարացաւ, անկաւ յախտս դժնդակս անդէն ի կապանսն:

 7:157 After he had been maltreated from all sides in this fashion, he succumbed to painful diseases there in prison:

7:158 Ջեռաւ փոր նորա, եւ հարան եւ տրորեցան գոգք նորա, եւ քամեալ մզեցաւ թանձրամսութիւն նորա:

 7:158 His entrails began to burn, his chest hurt and was festered, his fat belly shrank:

7:159 Եռացին որդունք ընդ աչս նորա, եւ ի վայր սորեցին ընդ ռնգունս նորա. խցան լսելիք նորա, եւ ծակոտեցան չարաչար շրթունք նորա. լուծան ջիլք բազկաց նորա, եւ յետ կոյս կորացան կրկունք ոտից նորա:

 7:159 Worms crawled in his eyes and ran down from his nostrils; his ears were bunged up, and his lips were painfully pierced; the sinews of his arms decomposed, and the heels of his feet were bent backwards:

7:160 Բղխեաց ի նմանէ հոտ մահու, եւ փախստական եղեն ի նմանէ ձեռնասուն ծառայք նորա:

 7:160 The stench of death emanated from him, and his domestic servants fled from him:

7:161 Լեզուն միայն կայր կենդանի ի բերան նորա, եւ ոչ գտաւ խոստովանութիւն ի շրթունս նորա:

 7:161 Only his tongue remained alive in his mouth, but no confession was found on his lips:

7:162 Ճաշակեաց զմահ հեղձամղձուկ, եւ էջ ի դժոխս անհնարին դառնութեամբ:

 7:162 He tasted the death of suffocation and descended to hell in hopeless misery:

7:163 Ոտնհար եղեն նմա ամենայն սիրելիք նորա, եւ ոչ յագեցան սաստիկ հարուածովք ամենայն թշնամիք նորա:

 7:163 All his friends maligned him, while his enemies were not satisfied with his unbearable afflictions:

7:164 Եւ այն որ կամէրն թագաւոր լինել մեղաւք Հայոց աշխարհին, ոչ երեւեցաւ տեղի գերեզմանի նորա. քանզի իբրեւ զշուն մեռաւ եւ իբրեւ զէշ քարշեցաւ:

 7:164 He who sinfully had wished to be king of Armenia had no known tomb, for he died like a dog and was thrown out as carrion:

7:165 Ոչ յիշեցաւ անուն նորա ի մէջ սրբոց, եւ ոչ մատեաւ յիշատակ նորա առաջի սուրբ սեղանոյն յեկեղեցւոջն:

 7:165 His name was not remembered among the saints; neither was his memory recalled before the holy altar in church:

7:166 Ոչ ինչ եթող չարիս՝ զոր ոչ գործեաց ի կեանս իւր, եւ ոչ ինչ մնաց ի մեծամեծ չարեաց՝ որ ոչ անցին ընդ նա ի մահուան նորա:

 7:166 There was no crime he left uncommitted during his lifetime; nor was there any terrible evil which did not befall him on his death:

7:167 Գրեցաւ յիշատակարանս այս վասն նորա, առ ի կշտամբումն յանդիմանութեան մեղաց նորա. զի ամենայն՝ որ զայս լուեալ գիտասցէ, նզովս ի հետ արկցէ, եւ մի՛ լիցի ցանկացող գործոց նորա:

 7:167 These recollections have been written concerning him in order to reprove his sins, so that everyone who hears and knows them may cast curses on him and not lust after his deeds:
