27:1 Ընդ ժամանակսն ընդ այնոսիկ թագաւորեաց Կոստանդիանոս որդի Կոստանդեայ արքայի յերկրին Սպանիացւոց եւ Գաղիացւոց. եւ հաւատաց նա յԱստուած, յարարիչն երկնի եւ երկրի, եւ ի ծնունդն ի Բանն նորա, յՈրդին միածին, եւ ի Հոգին սուրբ Աստուածութեան նորա:

 27:1 At that time, in Byzantium Constantine, son of Constantius, reigned over the country of the Spaniards and Gauls. He believed in God, creator of heaven and earth, and in the Word, his only-begotten Son, and the Holy Spirit of his Godhead:

27:2 Եւ կուտեաց գումարեաց առ ինքն զբազմութիւն զաւրաց իւրոց առ ափն Ովկիանոս ահագին ծովուն. եւ ուխտէր զայս բան ընդ ամենեսին, զի առ հասարակ ամենայն ոք ճշմարտութեանն հաւատասցէ, «միով աստուածաբարբառ պատգամաւք՝ մի ազգ կատարեալ փառաւորիչ միոյ Աստուծոյ լինել:

 27:2 He assembled the multitude of his forces by the shore of the vast Ocean sea the Mediterranean, and made this vow with all of them that they should believe in the Christian truth. With one divine message they should become a perfect nation, glorifying the one God:

27:3 Եւ յԱստուած խրախուսեալ՝ դիմէր ի վերայ հեթանոսական թագաւորացն, եւ անդէն սատակէր առ հասարակ զամենեսեան. զորս կործանէր զաւրութեամբ աստուածեան խաչին, զպիղծ եւ զանաւրէն թագաւորսն, զԴիոկղետիանոս եւ զՄարկիանոս եւ զՄաքսիմիանոս եւ զԼիկիանոս եւ զՄաքսենտիոս, եւ զամենայն զաւակ պղծալից թագաւորացն հեթանոսաց ջնջէր ի միջոյ:

 27:3 Then, trusting in God, Constantine went against the pagan kings - killing them all by the power of the divine cross: the foul and impious kings Diocletian and Marcianus, Maximianus, Lucinus, and Maxentius, as well as all the children of these loathsome pagan kings:

27:4 Շինէր եւ զաւերեալ եկեղեցիսն, եւ կանգնէր զսեղանսն կործանեալս ի տան Տեառն. շինէր եւ զառաքինարանսն վկայիցն, եւ բազմացուցանէր զփառաւորութիւն յիշատակաց երանելեացն մարտիրոսաց, եւ յաճախէր զպատիւ քահանայիցն Աստուծոյ, միանգամայն առնել խաղաղութիւն երկրաւորաց, բառնալ զգայթակղութիւնս ի միջոյ. զի մի՛ ոք մի՛ իւիք սայթաքիցէ յաստուածագնաց ճանապարհէն:

 27:4 He rebuilt the destroyed churches and restored the overthrown altars in the house of the Lord. He built chapels for the martyrs, and multiplied the glory of the commemorations of the blessed martyrs, and increased the honor of the priests of God, at once bestowing peace on the inhabitants of the earth and removing scandals, that no one in any way might slip from the path that leads to God:

27:5 Աւերէր զպղծալից մեհեանս դիւացն, եւ զնոսա առ հասարակ միանգամայն իսկ իւրեանց պաշտաւնէիւքն ի փախուստ դարձուցեալ պակասեցուցանէր:

 27:5 He destroyed the impure temples of the demons and obliterated them altogether, turning their ministers to flight:

27:6 Պատիւս եւ պարգեւս այնոցիկ շնորհէր, որք յաստուածպաշտութեան ճշմարտութեանն կացեալ էին, եւ ոչ երբեք զհաստատութիւնն թողեալ:

 27:6 Honors and gifts he bestowed on those who kept to true piety and never abandoned its security:

27:7 Վասն այսորիկ յաղթութիւն տուաւ նմա ի վերայ ամենայնի, վասն զի առ նա զնշան յաղթութեան խաչին յանձն իւր:

 27:7 Therefore, victory was given him over everyone, because he took for himself the sign of the victorious cross:

27:8 Եւ զհրաման սաստկութեան պատուիրանին ճշմարտութեան, կալ յայսմիկ ի հաստատութեան հաւատոցն զոր առ ի Տեառնէ՝ հրովարտակաւք իւրովք ընդ տիեզերս տարածանէր, սպառնացեալ յաղթող զաւրութեամբն՝ լուսոյն հաւատոց որ առ ի Տէր ունել զբարեպաշտութիւնն. եւ այսուիկ հալածէր զզաւրս խաւարին, եւ ի վերայ ամենայնի վերնոյն զաւրութեամբ գեր ի վերոյ լինէր:

 27:8 And the firm order of the commandment of truth - to stand firmly in the faith [cf. I Tim. 2-15] which comes from the Lord - he spread throughout the world by his edicts, terrifying everyone by his victorious power to cleave to the true piety of the light of faith in the Lord. Thus, he pursued the hosts of darkness and overcame them all by his power from above:

27:9 Իսկ որք այսմ հաւանեալք՝ զի երկրպագուք լիցին ճշմարտութեանն՝ զնոսա բարեկամեալ մերձեալ պատուեալ՝ առ ինքն մատուցանէր:

 27:9 Those who agreed to become worshipers of the truth he honored and treated as his friends:

27:10 Եւ այսու աւրինակաւ հզաւր երեւեալ՝ ի վերայ մարդկանն հաստատէր զթագաւորութիւնն իւր, աստուածակարգ թագաւորութիւն զիւր թագաւորութիւնն անուանեալ, մինչ այնչափ հզաւրացեալ ի վերայ ամենայն մարդկան՝ իրաւացի լինէր պայծառացեալ:

 27:10 In this fashion he became powerful and strengthened his rule over mankind, calling his kingdom a divinely-established kingdom. He became so powerful over all men that truly he was glorified:

27:11 Եւ այսպէս յաղթող երեւեալ զինքն հաստատէր՝ մինչեւ զամենայն աւուրս կենաց իւրոց հրեշտակ յերկնից երեւեալ, զաւր հանապազ նմա սպասաւոր կացեալ՝ ընդ առաւաւտս առաւաւտս զքրիստոսեան նշան թագի նորին առեալ՝ ի նորին գլուխն դնէր. եւ այսպէս տեսեալ զերկնաւոր զհրեշտակն յիւրում սպասաւորութեան երանելին եւ ցանկալին ամենայն թագաւորաց Կոստանդիանոս:

 27:11 Thus, he so consolidated his victorious position that all the days of his life an angel appeared from heaven continuously serving him every day: every morning he took the crown marked with Christ’s sign and put it on his head. So, the blessed and most wonderful of all kings, Constantine, saw the heavenly angel in his service:

27:12 Որ եւ զիւր թագաւորութեանն ծիրանիս Քրիստոսի աւանդէր, աստուածասէրն եւ աստուածապաշտն եւ յաղթողն ի վերայ ամենեցուն, որ հաստատէր զթագաւորութիւնն հաւատովք, եւ յամենայն եկեղեցիսն հաստատէր զհաւատսն ճշմարտութեան:

 27:12 And he, the pious and all-victorious, who established his kingdom in faith and confirmed the true faith in all churches, offered the purple of his royalty to Christ:
