43:0 Վասն Հրէից եւ չար խորհրդոց նոցա:

 43:0 Concerning the Jews and their wicked plots:

43:1 Ասացից եւ զՀրէիցն զապստամբողացն զխորհուրդսն, որ սակաւ ժամանակս աւգնականութիւն գտեալ ի Հագարացւոցն՝ առին խորհուրդ շինել զտաճարն սողոմոնի: Եւ գտեալ զտեղին, որ կոչի Սրբութիւն սրբութեանց՝ շինեցին զնա խարսխով շինուածով տեղի աղաւթից իւրեանց: Եւ նախանձեալ ընդ նոսա Իսմայելացւոցն՝ մերժեցին զնոսա ի տեղւոջէ յայնմանէ, եւ անուանեցին զնոյն տուն աղաւթից իւրեանց:

 43:1 I shall also speak about the plots of the rebellious Jews, who after gaining help from the Hagarenes for a brief while, decided to rebuild the temple of Solomon. Finding the spot called Holy of Holies, they rebuilt it with base and construction as a place for their prayers. But the Ismaelites, being envious of them, expelled them from that place and called the same house of prayer their own:

43:2 Նոքա յայլում տեղւոջ անդէն յատակս տաճարին շինեցին այլ տեղի աղաւթից իւրեանց: Եւ անդէն առաջի արկեալ զիւրեանց չարութեան խորհուրդ, լնուլ կամեցեալ զԵրուսաղէմ ծայր ի ծայրէ արեամբ, ջնջել զամենայն քրիստոնեայսն յԵրուսաղէմէ:

 43:2 Then the former built in another spot, right at the base of the temple, another place for their prayer. There they proposed their evil plot, desiring to fill Jerusalem from end to end with blood and to exterminate all the Christians from Jerusalem:

43:3 Արդ՝ այր ոմն ի մեծամեծացն Իսմայելի երթայր յերկրպագութիւն ի տեղի աղաւթից իւրեանց միայն: Ի դիմի հարան նմա արք երեք հրէայք ի գլխաւորաց նոցունց, որոց էին սպանեալ խոզս երկուս եւ տարեալ եդեալ ի տեղի աղաւթիցն, եւ զարիւնն հեղեալ զորմովքն եւ զյատակաւք տանն: Եւ եղեւ իբրեւ ետես զնոսա այրն՝ զտեղի էառ եւ խաւսեցաւ ընդ նոսա զինչ եւ խաւսեցաւ. եւ նոքա պատասխանեալ նմա զանց արարին զնովաւ եւ գնացին:

 43:3 Now a certain man from among the great ones of Ismael came to worship at the place of their prayer alone. Three of the leading Jews encountered him; they had killed two pigs which they had brought to the place of prayer, and whose blood they had scattered on the walls and floor of the building. When the man saw them, he stopped and said something to them. They responded, passed by him, and departed:

43:4 Եւ նա իսկոյն մտեալ ի ներքս կալ յաղաւթս՝ ետես զչարիս, եւ դարձաւ փութանակի, զի կալցի զարսն: Եւ իբրեւ ոչ եգիտ զնոսա լուռ եղեւ եւ գնաց ի տեղի իւր. եւ ապա բազումք մտեալ տեսին զչարիսն, եւ գոյժ արկին քաղաքին: Եւ ուսուցին հրեայքն իշխանին, թէ քրիստոնեայքդ պղծեցին զտեղի աղաւթիցն: Հրաման ետ իշխանն, եւ ժողովեցին զամենայն քրիստոնեայսն:

 43:4 As soon as he had entered inside to pray, he saw the wicked deed, and immediately turned back to seize the men. Since he could not find them, he kept silent and went home. Then many people entered, saw the crime, and broke the news to the city. The Jews informed the prince that Christians had defiled the place of prayer. The prince gave an order, and they assembled all the Christians:

43:5 Եւ մինչ կամէին զնոսա սրով սատակել՝ եկն այրն եւ եկաց յանդիման, ասէ. «ԸՆդէր հեղոյք զայդչափ արիւն ի տարապարտուց. հրամայեցէք ժողովել զամենայն հրէայսդ, եւ ես ցուցից զմահապարտսն»: Եւ եղեւ իբրեւ ժողովեցին զամենեսեան, եւ մտեալ ի մէջ նոցա ծանեաւ զարսն զերիսն, որ դիպեցան նմա: Եւ կալեալ զնոսա՝ դատեցին ահագին դատաստանաւք, մինչեւ յայտնեցին զխորհուրդն: Եւ զի իշխան նոցա էր ի հրէից անտի՝ հրամայեաց սպանանել արս վեց, զգլխաւորս խորհրդեանն. եւ այլոցն թոյլ ետ գնալ ի տեղի իւրեանց:

 43:5 While they were intending to put them to the sword, the man came, stood before them and note: ’Why would you shed so much blood unjustly? Order all the Jews to be gathered, and I shall point out the guilty ones. ’ When they had assembled them all, he went into their midst and identified the three men who had met him. Having seized them, they condemned them with fearful penalties until they revealed the plot. Because their prince was from among the Jews, he ordered six men to be killed, the ring-leaders of the plot. The others he let go to their own homes:
