9:1 Երբեմն սոյն Յոհան անցանէր առ այգեօք ուրումն. եւ էր ժամանակն զայգիսն յատելոյ:

9:2 Աղաղակէր առ նա այր մի յայգւոյն, եւ ասէ. Օրհնեա, տէր եպիսկոպոս, զմեզ եւ զայգիսս:

9:3 Ասէ Յոհան. Փուշ եւ տատասկ բուսցի:

 9:3 Yohan replied: “May thorns and thistles grow:

9:4 Ասէ այրն. Ի մարմինդ քո բուսցի փուշ եւ տատասկ, փոխանակ զի տարապարտուց անիծանես զմեզ:

9:5 Եւ եղեն նշանք յԱստուծոյ. զի իբրեւ չոգաւ եպիսկոպոսն ի վանս իւր, հասին հարուածք ի վերայ նորա, սկսաւ ընդ ամենայն անդամս մարմնոյ նորա որպէս զփուշ հարկանել:

9:6 Եւ մեծապէս շտապեալ անկեալ ի տանջանս չարաչարս հարուածոց, եւ ի մեծ տագնապի կայր աւուրս բազում:

9:7 Ապա յղեաց կոչեաց առ ինքն զայգորդն, աղաչեաց զնա առնել ի վերայ նորա աղօթս, զի փրկեսցի նա ի ցաւոցն:

9:8 Այգորդն ասէր. Իսկ ես ո՞վ եմ, զի կարեմ զոք օրհնել կամ անիծանել. թող թէ զայր եպիսկոպոս:

9:9 Իսկ նա բռնադատէր զնա յայնժամ. մինչեւ յառնէր այգորդն կայր յաղօթս եւ ասէր. Տէր Աստուած. դու գիտես` զի ես այր մեղաւոր եմ եւ անարժան, ոչ գիտեմ զաղմուկս` յորում ըմբռնեցայս. դու փրկեա զիս յայս ի չարէս, զի ասեն` թէ զայր եպիսկոպոս դու անիծեր, եւ ասեն` քո բանիւ եղեւ:

9:11 Եւ զայս ասացեալ` անդէն բժշկեցաւ եպիսկոպոսն, եւ սկսաւ յամենայն մարմնոցն փուշն ի բաց թափել. եւ էր իբրեւ զփուշ խոտոց. վաղվաղակի յարուցեալ ողջացաւ յախտէն:
