14:1 Ապա յետ այնորիկ ի սահմանակիցս ի Սիւնական աշխարհն ելանէր: Եւ անդ աստուածասէր հնազանդութեամբ ընկալեալ զնա իշխանին Սիւնեաց, որ էր Վաղենակ անուն:

 14:1 After this he went to the neighboring land of Siunik. Here too he was received with godly amenities by the ruler of Siunik whose name was Vaghinak:

14:2 Բազում աւգնականութիւն գտեալ ի նմանէ վասն իրացն առաջի արկելոցն, մինչեւ հասանել նմա բովանդակ ի վերայ սահմանաց Սիւնեաց:

 14:2 From him Mashtots obtained much assistance in his assumed task, enabling him to visit and to familiarize himself with all parts of Siunik:

14:3 Եւ ժողովեալ մանկունս առ ի նիւթ վարդապետութեանն, առաւել զգազանամիտ զվայրենագոյն զճիւաղաբարոյ կողմանցն. եւ այնչափ փոյթ ի վերայ ունելով՝ եւ դայեկաբար սնուցանել եւ խրատել, մինչեւ ի նոցունց իսկ ի վայրենեացն եպիսկոպոս տեսուչ եկեղեցւոյն Սիւնեաց կարգել, որոյ անունն կոչէր Անանիաս, այր սուրբ եւ երեւելի, հայրաբարոյ ժառանգաւորաց եկեղեցւոյ:

 14:3 And so as to teach he gathered youths from the more brutal, barbaric, and fiendish regions and cared for them and instructed as a teacher, educated and advised them so well as to ordain a bishop overseer from among those barbarians, whose name was Ananias, a saintly, distinguished man, and a father for the seminarians:

14:4 Ապա եւ զերկիրն Սիւնեաց դասուք վանականաց լնոյր: Յորում ժամանակի պարգեւեալ յԱստուծոյ, հասանէր ի գլուխ իշխանութեանն Սիւնեաց քաջն Սիսականն Վասակ, այր խորհրդական եւ հանճարեղ եւ յառաջիմաց, շնորհատուր իմաստութեամբն Աստուծոյ:

 14:4 He then filled the region of Siunik with monastic orders. At that time God ordained that brave Vasak Siuni, a wise and ingenious, far-sighted man, endowed with the grace of divine knowledge, came to be the ruler of Siunik:

14:5 Բազում ինչ նպաստութիւն ցուցանէր աւետարանագործ վարդապետութեանն, իբրեւ որդւոյ առ հայր՝ հպատակութիւն ցուցեալ, եւ ծառայեալ ըստ աւետարանին վայելչութեան, մինչ ի վախճան զհրամայեալսն ի գործ բերէր:

 14:5 He greatly assisted in the work of the evangelization. He showed obedience, as a son to his father, and duly serving the gospel, carried out all his requests:
