 22:0 About how the Greek king Basil went on a campaign to the land of the Sebasteia and, defeated by the latter, had to flee and return home:

22:1 Եւ զկնի այսորիկ ինքն թագաւորն Վասիլ զաւրաժողով եղեւ գնալ յաշխարհն Բուլղարաց:

 22:1 After that, King Basil, having gathered an army, personally went to the land of Sebasteia:

22:2 Եւ հաստաբուռն զաւրութեամբ երթեալ՝ ունի զմիջոց աշխարհի նոցա լայն բանակաւ:

 22:2 He went with a dense military force and a vast camp occupied the very middle of their state:

22:3 Եւ Բուլղարացն աճապարեալ կալան զնեղ տեղիս, զկիրճս կապանաց ճանապարհին (զի են վայրք մացառուտք եւ դժուարագնացք), եւ ի բանտի արգելեալ զթագաւորն հանդերձ ամենայն զաւրաւքն՝ սրախողխող առնէին զամենեսեան:

 22:3 The Sebasteia hurried and occupied narrow places and mountain passes through which the enemy could pass: these were impassable places covered with bushes:

22:4 Այլ հետեւակագունդն Հայոց ի մէջ առեալ զթագաւորն Վասիլ զկնի եւ յառաջոյ՝ ընդ այլ ճանապարհ լեռնագնաց տարեալ հանին ի Մակեդոնիա:

 22:4 Thus surrounding the king with all his army, they put them all to the sword; only the Armenian infantry, encircling King Basil in front and behind, took him to Macedonia by another mountain road:

22:5 Եւ ամենայն հեծելագունդ զաւրն մատնեցաւ նոցա հանդերձ աւարաւն եւ պալատամբ թագաւորին:

 22:5 The whole (Greek) cavalry, with all the belongings and palace, surrendered to the enemy:
